Greenspots is an initiative for promoting local businesses implementing ecologically friendly practices.
The goal of this project is to bootstrap practices for renewable resource management in developing countries such as Mexico. When people are focused on staying afloat, it can be difficult to sell them on caring about the environment. Greenspots encourages it by making it easy and offering incentives for participations - if you compost, recycle, or use refillable containers, then your spot is given a badge and placed on the map.
Greenspots is well-suited for partnering with existing initiatives such as Hagamos Composta and Azul Sayu to uplift the work they do and add much needed attention to their programs. Other potential avenues for continuing this work could include establishing community gardens with the available compost or workshops for recycling old materials.
